Real Stories. Real People. Radical Love.
In a special feature by The Guardian, readers were introduced to unsung heroes around the world whose acts of courage and compassion showed love’s incredible reach—even in the face of violence, fear, and loss.
Among them was Nadifa Ismail, a mother in Chad who shielded her daughters from armed men by putting herself in front of their weapons. In Uganda, Brian Aliganyira opened a mental health center for LGBTQ+ individuals facing persecution, providing shelter and dignity. And in Kenya, Patrick Onyango, a survivor of torture, now advocates for peace and the honoring of victims—not through revenge, but remembrance.
These stories remind us: in war, love can still speak.
— Donald Flor, Cofounder of Love Love Love
