A Friend Who Became a Lifeline: A Lamb, a Girl, and a Town Unite

Real Stories. Real People. Radical Love.

In a moving blend of love and community action, a young girl in a 4-H group rallied her small town to save her best friend’s life. When Lexi, age 11, needed a heart transplant, her friend Holly stepped forward with her most prized possession: her show lamb.

She entered it in the county fair auction, explaining to the crowd why she was donating the proceeds. The crowd was stunned. The bidding began—and something amazing happened. People bought the lamb, then re-donated it again and again. Each new bid added to the total. By the end, they had raised more than $27,000 for Lexi’s surgery.

A child’s love sparked a town’s compassion. And love, once again, proved it multiplies when shared.
