Pat the Bricklayer Rebuilds a Vandalized Mosque Wall—By Hand

Real Stories. Real People. Radical Love.

After a mosque in the UK was defaced and its wall smashed in a hate crime, Pat Hill, a retired bricklayer, showed up with his tools and quietly began rebuilding it—free of charge.

He wasn’t Muslim. He wasn’t from the neighborhood. But he believed that love builds what hate tries to destroy. His gesture was shared widely, prompting others to donate bricks, food, and supplies.

When asked why he did it, Pat said: “Because we’re all family on this earth. And you don’t leave your family to suffer alone.”
